Righteousness

Righteousness
This Sunday, Don will preach on Isaiah 15:1–20:6, emphasizing the difference between success and righteousness. In preparation for the sermon, you may read the text HERE.

Before you begin, ask yourself:
  • How do you define success?
  • Who would you say is successful?
  • How does the world define success?
  • How does the church at large define success?
  • How does Jesus define success? Or does he?
  • What does it mean to be righteous?

As you begin reading the text, pray, asking for God’s wisdom and understanding.  Pray that your heart and ears are open to His word.

  • Notice if any words or phrases are repeated.
  • Mark what you believe is the most important verse of each chapter.
  • Ask yourself why you marked each verse.
  • Notice what God is doing or not doing.

This text covers almost five chapters.  Allow some time this week to revisit the text before Sunday.

Grace Discipleship: Unity in the Church

— From Jeremiah 32:39: O Lord, we long for You to give us one heart and one way that we may fear You always for our own good and for the good of our children after us.

— From Colossians 3:13-15: Father, please give us a forgiving spirit to quickly forgive offenses, so that we can put on love which is the perfect bond of unity. Please let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts knowing we are called in one body. Make us thankful to You, dear Lord.
