Can I hear from God?
Can I hear from God?
"In my many years of discipling others, I have seen for myself how very much God's people want to hear from him. [In the passages we have recently read], God promised Israel that he would not somehow conceal his will or require his people to hire someone else to find it for them. Rather, he promised that he would speak clearly to the prophet, and the prophet was to speak clearly to the people. Moreover, the community of faith made sure that the most important of these words would be written down for subsequent generations. As we think of our own experiences with God and with his people, ask yourself what is it that you want to know from him in this new covenant of ours where God has actually come to live within every believer and Jesus himself has become our prophet, priest ,and king what do you think you need to do to hear from God?" (Richter 24).
How many times do we think God's will is hiding beneath a rock and we just haven't picked up the right rock, yet? God does not desire that His will be hidden from us. He speaks to us though His word. His ways were not hidden from the Israelites nor are they hidden from us. Pray and ask God for any insight you wish to gain from Him. He will not hide His face from you.

Grace Discipleship: Pray for the needy, hungry, and oppressed
Most gracious Father,
We pray for the poor, the sick, the hungry, the oppressed, and those in prison. Lord, hear our prayer. We pray for those in any need or trouble. Have compassion on those who suffer from any grief or trouble, that they may be delivered from their distress. Comfort and heal all those who suffer in body, mind, or spirit; give them courage and hope in their troubles and bring them the joy of your salvation. For the poor, the persecuted, the sick, and all who suffer. May they be relieved and protected. We ask this in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
