Thankfulness
Sometimes the words of a prophecy seem current to our lives. People have seen the Book of Revelation play out in their own generation and own culture since it was first written. This is one of the things that makes Biblical prophecy powerful. The truth expressed in it is almost always relevant.
This is comforting on some level. People have struggled with rebellion towards God since the Garden of Eden, and we still struggle today. However, what makes a prophetic message scary is the deafness of the people. It is not that we struggle, it is that we do not respond to the call of our Creator.
Read Isaiah 5:1-7 and you will see the heartfelt call of the Lord. Pay particular attention to love and care He gives His people, and then see what people give back to Him. In Romans 1:18-32, Paul points out this exact same problem. We, as the people of God, should live in a constant state of gratitude to the Lord, not just because He is God, but also because He has lovingly and generously provided for us. Gratitude tames rebellion.
Take time today to meditate on Isaiah 5:2:
He plowed the land, cleared its stones,
and planted it with the best vines.
In the middle he built a watchtower
and carved a winepress in the nearby rocks.
Then he waited for a harvest of sweet grapes,
but the grapes that grew were bitter.
Please pray for the lost today. Pray for those who do not know the Lord, but also for those who are running from Him.
